From field to fork and pallet to play!

From field to fork and pallet to play!

My Life’s Day Opportunity members have been learning about and considering the natural world.

Through their Field to Fork activity, our Day Opportunities members get the chance to grow and tend to their own vegetables, eventually picking them and cooking delicious meals – perhaps the best part of the process!

All members have clearly enjoyed the sensory experience of picking their own food and being with nature, as well as growing it in the beautiful surroundings of our Standish site.

The whole experience helps members to understand the process by which food gets to our tables and how to cook with produce. Perhaps more relevant than ever, the activity underlines the importance of the consumption of fresh, locally sourced sustainable food and helping the community by keeping business local.

Following on with this environmental theme, members have also been busy making homemade games from pallets and recycled wood. From Play Your Cards Right to dominoes, we’ve all had a great time working together, with everyone fully involved in preparing, making and playing games!

All the fun of the farm, at My Life’s Holiday Club!

All the fun of the farm, at My Life’s Holiday Club!

Children attending My Life’s October half term holiday club had a fantastic time on our farm, all taking part in a range of Halloween themed activities!

Our school holiday clubs run every holiday and are tailored for children of all ages and abilities including those with SEND (under eights must be accompanied by an adult).

As well as feeding the farm animals, typical activities include forest school, make and bake, scavenger hunt, green fingers gardening, arts and crafts, face painting and much, much more, all taking place on our 84 acres of green land at Thompson House Equestrian Centre in Standish.

Every holiday there’s something new, with a seasonal theme to accompany it!

Holiday Club costs just £20 per child per day, with 1:1 or 2:1 support available at an additional cost. If you’re interested in finding out more, call 01257 472 900 or email sian.bint@my-life.org.uk.
